Default ASD Headaches

I have a clean windows xp installation and have just installed ASD, SAP, PLAT and VPN remote. After a successful connection through the VPN remote, the ASD is giving out an error when trying to connect through Tethered Login.

RFC Connection: for more information: see trace dev_rfc

Any idea what is causing this?

Thanks.

Default ASD Headache

You will need to copy this line to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\services
"services" open with notepad then add line as below:

sapmsI2P 3600/tcp # SAPpop2000

Hi, guys.
Installed last version of Avaya ASD (9.15.5). Brand new installation over a laptop with Windows XP SP3.
Installation process seems to went OK.
But, once i create a new request and press system launch, i'm receiving the attached pop up error when I press "Help me" or "D2Win" buttons at the right side of each item questionnaire.
I've reinstalled again the ASD without luck.
Anyone has some idea about how to solve this??

and well, i second this request for a section. ole goode ges-o has many (oh many!) quirks one should know about, and i for one wouldn't mind sharing some of my 6+ years experience with it.

ijimenez,

asd is a mystery upon itself, so much that it's a wonder it works at all. try installing the latest 9.15.6 update, if it doesn't help try reinstalling it from scratch. sometimes it helps, i never could understand how.

This is true.. ASD can be somewhat difficult at times.. fortunately it is being replaced by a more intuitive web based tool.. of course it also helps that the product line is more streamlined..

ijimenez,
I have had the same. my solution was.

download the 2 ASD files from the businesspartner site. (latest 17 of feb). when done. make vpn connections to avaya and start ASD. don't bother about passwords there, if you click stand alone its doing an update also.

David,

well, i peeked at ez quote and, frankly, it's too easy presently. i don't think it'll completely replace asd in the near future. it suits fine for something quick'n'dirty but not for complex projects. for one thing, i don't know how to tweak it. asd is stupid thing but at least it's predictable and tweakable. ever used advanced traffic screen to adjust port networks? you know what i mean then, heh. dunno how to do that in ez quote...

Default unable to start SAPGUI

Hi
Does the error unable to start SAPGUI ring any bells with anyone ? I applied the fix in the thread but that does not really do anything for the SAP gui.

Best regards Dennis

Default ASD Operating System Support

Hi Folks

I am needing to get additional pre-sales team members up and running with the Avaya tools such as ASD, PLAT, SAP, etc but am having a problem installing on non XP machines.

From what I have read it seems that only XP is officially supported which poses a problem as our corporate IT strategy is for later operating systems such as Vista or Windows 7.

Is my assumption correct that the only official OS supported is XP? If this is correct is there anyone who has managed to install on Vista or Windows 7 successfully?

Any gudiance here would be appreciated

Mark

marknel,

i asked asd support and they said windows xp is the only officially supported version. it was some time ago though, something may have changed since then, although i doubt it. and as i said before, i'm running it successfully in windows xp mode under windows 7, haven't seen any major trouble since last august. in fact, it may be even better for asd this way 'cause i'm using windows xp mode almost exclusively for asd and so there are no additional applications installed in it, no updates, just plain vanilla windows xp. asd seems to like it.

IP Office is no longer in ASD.. the EZQuote tool is the replacement configuration tool for this and the Mid Sized Business Template.. R2 will be out shortly which will extend this tool to additional products..

regarding 10.0.1 update that is broken, here's the missing designnotesexport.dll: http://avaya.dwalin.ru/wp-content/up...otesexport.zip. just unzip it and drop in c:\ges\bin or any other PATH directory.

jmvattsa,

oh yeah, i forgot about this little trouble. i dunno why windows xp mode is missing that system component - it's not really asd's fault - but you can get it here http://www.ascentive.com/support/new...e=COMDLG32.OCX along with the instructions on how to install it properly. i got mine from that page and it works properly now.

AndreiBuc,

You can run it perfectly well in Windows virtual machine using VirtualBox or VMWare Player. I wouldn't even start to think about running it in an emulation layer like WINE, though.
